Ex Fabula At Stonefly ( 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm )

Ex Fabula's next event—8pm, Tuesday April 13th at Stonefly Brewery, 735 East Center Street in the Riverwest neighborhood—will mark the second-to-last event in this spectacular inaugural season. So be there or be square! The theme is “Stranger in a Strange Land.” April’s event at Stonefly Brewery will be the sixth and final opportunity for our audience members to take the stage and show off their storytelling chops. (For details on May event, look up Ex Fabula ALL STARS)

Like the previous events, this sixth event at Stonefly Brewery will feature different storytelling formats. As always, audience members will crown their favorite storyteller at the end of the night.

Those who are interested in vying for a storytelling spot should put their names in the hat by 7:45 pm. The volunteer storytellers for the evening will then be randomly drawn to compete side by side with storytellers arranged in advance. Would-be storytellers should choose stories that tie in to the theme “Stranger in a Strange Land”. They should practice without notes and to the five-minute time limit as they will be cut off if they run over five minutes. Storytellers should pay particular attention to the first and last lines of their stories and ensure that they are vivid and compelling.

CLOWN! ( All Day )
Do you think clowns belong only in circuses, birthday parties, and wanted posters? Think again. The clown is one of the most enduring figures in performance history; from the virtuosic physical bits of Chaplin and Keaton to the verbal ballet of Will Ferrell and Stephen Colbert. The study of clown is the study of what is essential in performance; presence, timing, relationship, risk, truth, and joy. Bucketworks member, The Hinterlands will lead a full day clown workshop on Saturday, April 17th from 10:00am - 6:00pm exploring: Comedic timing, being "for" an audience, admitting the truth, simplicity, ferocious play. Get your tickets in advance and pay $55 because they're $60 at the door. To reserve your spot now send an email to or call 414.208.4237.

Transition Milwaukee Hub Meeting ( 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm )

Our monthly Hub meetings are the one occassion every month in which we gather in person to learn about the Transition framework, brainstorm and plan projects for relocalization. Whether you are new to or familiar with TM, we invite you to participate in the planning of a more sustainable Milwaukee. Bring your ideas, energy, and friends!

Networking is from 6:30pm-7pm. Meeting begins at 7pm.

This is our 2nd installment of the, "Meet Milwaukee's Council" meetings. Alderman Nik Kovac of the 3rd District will be speaking and answering questions from about 7:00PM - 7:20PM. We are looking forward to having Alderman Kovac tell us about his current focus within the 3rd district and also about his responsibilities within the Council.

In 2010, we are beginning a Meet Our Alders Program, individually inviting each Alderperson to our monthly meetings to discuss their history, current programs and allowing the TM members a Q&A session. The broad objective is to, over the course of the year, piece together a personal picture of our local Council, while encouraging participation and productive communication between our greater community and representatives. Transition Milwaukee believes that we should ASK our representatives for support, rather than DEMAND votes.
