 achian poet Frank X Walker will lead a two-hour community writing worksh
 op illustrating the importance of unmuting the silenced and rendering visi
 ble the erased. Walker will shepherd participants through the process from
  motivation to presenting the final product. Creative writers at all level
 s of experience are welcome. Please bring materials for new writing or a c
 urrent project. \n\nFrank X Walker regularly teaches in writing programs 
 like Fishtrap in Oregon and SplitRock at the University of Minnesota. He h
 as lectured\, conducted workshops\, read poetry and exhibited at over 300 
 national conferences and universities including the Verbal Arts Centre in 
 Derry\, Northern Ireland\; Santiago\, Cuba\; University of California at B
 erkeley\; Notre Dame\; Louisiana State University at Alexandria\; Universi
 ty of Washington\; Virginia Tech\; Radford University\; and Appalachian St

 Frank X Walker is a native of Danville\, Kentucky. A founding member of t
 he Affrilachian Poets\, he is the author of four poetry collections:When W
 inter Come: The Ascension of York (University Press of Kentucky\, 2008)\;
  Black Box (Old Cove Press\, 2005)\; Buffalo Dance: The Journey of York
  (University Press of Kentucky\, 2003)\, winner of the 35th Annual Lillia
 n Smith Book Award\; and Affrilachia (Old Cove Press\, 2000). He is the 
 recipient of the 2006 Thomas D. Clark Literary Award for Excellence\, Acto
 rs Theatre's Keeper of the Chronicle Award and a 2005 Recipient of a Lanna
 n Literary Fellowship in Poetry. Walker currently serves as the Writer in 
 Residence and lecturer of English at Northern Kentucky University\; and is
  the proud editor and publisher of PLUCK! The Journal of Affrilachian Art
 s &amp\; Culture.\n            \n            The work of Frank X Walker is
  an eclectic\, powerful mixture of liberating style\, profound insight\, a
 nd unwavering organic connection to the intellectual\, political\, and cul
